The Banned Press is a bookshop highlighting authors and stories from Queer, Black, Indigenous and people of color demographics. These demographics are continuously underrepresented and typically in the top 30-40% of books that are being challenged or banned.

Each year, thousands of books are challenged in schools, libraries, and communities across the globe. Books are challenged for various reasons, including offensive language, sexual content, LGBTQ+ themes, religious viewpoints, and violence. Banning and challenging books can occur in any setting, including public and school libraries, classrooms, and even entire communities. Banned book and censorship is not limited to the United States; censorship occurs worldwide.
